CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION

Composition:  
The Civil Service Commission shall consist of three (3) members, all of whom shall be electors of the city, appointed for staggered terms of six (6) years.  No more than two members shall be from the same political party.  Appointments to the Civil Service Commission shall be confirmed by Council within 30 days after written notification to Council of the appointment made by the Mayor.  If Council fails to act upon the Mayor’s appointment within 30 days, the appointment shall be deemed approved.

Powers and Duties: 
The Civil Service Commission shall, except as otherwise provided by ordinance, exercise the powers and duties of a Municipal Civil Service Commission as provided by general law.  The Civil Service Commission may, with the approval of Council by ordinance, adopt rules and regulations that differ from those provided by general law.

Classification of Service: 
Except as otherwise provided by ordinance, employees shall be included in the classified service of the City in accordance with general law.
