EMS BILLING

The Tallmadge Fire Department has been billing residents and non-residents for their ambulance transportation to area hospitals since 2001. Since January 1, 2011, Life Force Management out of Streetsboro Ohio has been performing this task for the City of Tallmadge. Basically what they do is use the insurance information taken from the hospital’s information sheet provided to our medics at the time of transport to bill each patient’s insurance. Many times patients will never even see a bill. If billing problems occur, for example the patient has changed insurance carriers, this information needs to be reported to Life Force. Life Force will also send notices to patients asking for their insurance information if nothing is listed on their hospital information sheet. Life Force Management has a policy of sending three letters to patients, one every 30 days, on accounts which lack payment and/or contact. Should there be no response after this correspondence; the account is sent to our collection company.
