Fire Department 

Fire Chief Patrick J. Gaffney manages the Tallmadge Fire Department. The division of Fire & EMS provides emergency services to the citizens of Tallmadge, as well as fire prevention and education. The Fire Department and EMS squads consist of 14 full-time and 45 part-time firefighters and paramedics.  

The Tallmadge Fire Department is an active participant in the Summit County Special Operations Response Team (SORT).

The Tallmadge Fire Department offers a number of special programs throughout the year to
assist our residents:

• Safety Town, school safety programs and the Children’s Hospital Juvenile Fire Setters Programs

• Business fire safety inspections, fire extinguisher classes and event safety planning

• Akron Children’s Burn Care (ACBC) aluminum can collection site @ Station 1

• Blood Pressure Checks (8 am – 5 pm) and scheduled fire station tours
