DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SERVICE

The Department of Public Service administers all public works undertakings for the City, such as repair, improvement and construction of public streets, lands, bridges, sidewalks, playgrounds, parks, storm and sanitary sewers, drains, ditches, waterways, lighting and cleaning of public places. It also administers the municipal water system, municipal recreation center, municipal swimming pool complex, and cemeteries. The Department provides for and preserves surveys, maps, plans, drawings and estimates. It competitively bids, oversees, inspects and supervises the design and construction of public improvements and buildings. The Building and Zoning Departments are administered by the Department of Public Service, as is the office of the City Engineer and the Division of Vehicle Maintenance.

The Department of Public Service administers the natural gas aggregation and electrical aggregation programs.
