water permit process

CITY WATER TIE-IN:

• Apply for a water service permit in the Planning/Zoning Dept. located at City Hall, 46 North Avenue, lower level. The cost of the permit is $940.00.

• A copy of the permit is forwarded to the Water Dept. 

• The houseline must be installed using type K copper and be at least 5 feet deep. The Water Dept. must be notified to inspect the houseline before we can install the water service. 

• If the houseline is already in and covered up, contact the Water Dept. to help locate it.

• After the houseline is inspected, the water service will be installed within two weeks.

• The homeowner will then notify the Water Dept. when they are ready for the meter set. If the well is being disconnected, it is best to schedule an appointment when the plumber will be ready to disconnect the well. The meter will be set upon this inspection.

CITY SEWER TIE-IN:

• Apply for a sewer permit at City Hall in the Planning/Zoning Dept., located at 46 North Ave, lower level. The cost for a residential sewer line is $60.00.

• A contractor will tie in the sewer and notify the Water/Sewer Dept. before covering up.

• A permit MUST be taken out if a repair is being made to the sewer and an inspection required before covering up.
