WATER/SEWER BILLING
The City of Tallmadge bills for water/sewer and storm water. The City is divided into three sections and bills are generated every three months. All bills are due around the 20th of the month. Failure to receive your bill does not excuse a penalty or payment.
Unpaid bills will result in water service shut off and a $25.00 turn off fee. Any returned checks or ACH payments will be charged $10.00.
Water readings are in cubic feet which equals 7.48 gallons. The bill shows a previous read, current read and the consumption billed.
Complaints should be directed to the Billing Manager at (330) 633-0851, within 10 days of the bill date. Once a complaint is received, the Billing Manager will investigate and notify the customer of the decision within a timely manner. You can request a hearing with the Director of Public Service if not satisfied with the explanation. Penalties will be suspended during the investigation period.
Save yourself the cost of a stamp and mailing your check in time. You can sign up for Automated Clearing House (ACH FORM) which will deduct your bill from your checking or savings account. Once the form is filled out and returned, your account will be updated. You will still receive a bill, but it will state: “DO NOT PAY. THIS AMOUNT WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT.”

SEASONAL USE OF METERS
If service to an account is seasonal in nature, and the owner requests a termination of the service for a period of one (1) month or more, a charge shall be made for turning off the meter and for turning it back on. The charge shall be ten dollars ($10.00) per trip to the premises and will be included on the water/sewer bill. All charges will be suspended, including storm water. Upon reactivation of the account, the storm water charges will include the period of turn off.
POOL FILL CREDIT
A customer may request a reading when they are ready to fill a pool. The Water Dept. must be notified to get a reading before and after the pool is filled. This consumption will be credited on the sewer portion of their bill, providing they are over the 2,000 cubic foot minimum. For example: filling 10,000 gallons (1,337 cubic feet) would give a credit of $23.52, minus a $10 charge, for a total sewer credit of$13.52.
HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION
Disctrict I sewer customers who receive a HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION on their property tax, can receive a reduced sewer rate. A current property tax receipt showing the Homestead Exemption credit will be accepted as proof. To apply for the Homestead Exemption for those over 65, call (330) 643-2661.
SENIOR DISCOUNT
District II (Summit County DOES) customers may qualify for a senior discount through Summit County. Eligibility is based upon income, age or disability. The requirements and application form are available. Once the application form is received in the Water/Sewer Department, the billing manager will contact you.
