Penny Taylor

The City of Tallmadge Director of Law is Penelope "Penny" Taylor. Penny is currently serving her first four year term. Prior to being elected, Penny was the Assistant Law Director for the City of Tallmadge for fourteen years.

Penny holds a B.A. degree and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron. Prior to becoming Assistant Law Director and then Law Director, Penny worked in private practice and for General Tire.

As Director of Law, she is chief legal advisor and attorney for the City and for all elected City officials. City officials may request from the Director of Law written legal opinions in matters relating to their official duties. All questions of interpretation of the City Charter are made by the Director of Law. In matters of civil litigation the Director of Law represents the City. In addition to acting as chief civil counsel for the city, the Director of Law prosecutes all City of Tallmadge criminal charges brought against criminal defendants in the Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court. When requested by the Mayor or Council, the Director of Law prepares contracts, legislation, bonds, and all other written documents. The Director of Law does not act as civil counsel for the Tallmadge School District.

The Law Director's office is located on the upper floor of City Hall at 46 North Avenue.
