Fitness Programs

The Tallmadge Recreation Center offers a variety of fitness programs. From those just starting out to those looking for a new challenge, we have something for everyone.

July Fitness Schedule Changes
Starting July 8, 2019, we will begin our hardwood floors refinishing project at the Tallmadge Recreation Center. This project entails sanding and applying several coats of polyurethane finish to the hardwood floor surfaces. The project is schedule to take roughly 3 - 4 weeks. This project is different from the typical rough sanding and one coat finish that we perform every other year during our annual shutdown. Approximately every ten years it is recommended that the hardwood floors are sanded back down to the wood. The reason the project takes 3-4 weeks is due to the additional sanding and the application of several coats of polyurethane finish (3-5).

During this time our fitness schedules will be modified. Below you will find a link to a tentative fitness schedule for the month of July. We have put every effort into making sure we could offer almost all of the normal fitness classes during this time frame. In doing so, we have relocated several classes to take place at the Tallmadge Community Center, outdoors or other spaces within the Tallmadge Recreation Center. We expect there to be last minute changes as the project progresses. We ask for your patience and understanding as we continue to provide our members/community with the most updated facility in the area.

Group Fitness Classes


Group fitness classes are an ideal way to improve your cardiovascular system, strengthen your body, improve flexibility and manage your weight. Best of all, group fitness is a great way to stay motivated and enthusiastic about your fitness routine. We have strength, cardio and flexibility classes available Mondays through Saturdays. Personal Training


For new members, seasoned athletes and anyone in between, personal training provides the ultimate fitness motivation. Training sessions are tailored to each individual's specific needs, health challenges and fitness goals. Our trainers build custom fitness programs optimizing time and energy and demonstrating proper exercise form and technique.

At the Tallmadge Recreation Center, Personal Training packages may be purchased by single or multiple sessions. Each session begins with a free fitness assessment. Sessions are one hour in length and meet as frequently as necessary based on each client's needs.

Home School Gym

 
Kids will participate in a variety of individual and team-based sports and physical activities. Weekly classes will feature a warm up, stretch and exercise segment, 1 mile and 1/2 mile timed run, fun sports and a cool down at the end. Punch passes are available and drop-ins welcome. Ages 5-17 welcome. Home School Gym follows the City of Tallmadge School calendar (September through May). Sessions are held on Thursdays from 12:45 p.m. through 2:30 p.m.
