TALLMADGE GRANTS

The City attempts to obtain grants to help offset the cost of capital projects to the local community. The following recent projects are partially funded with grants:

Northeast Avenue Roundabout:
This project received Ohio Department of Transportation funding in the
amount of 1,145,000, American Recovery and Reinvestment funding in the amount of $268,800, and Permissive License Tax funding in the amount of $200,000. The total project construction costs were approximately $2,000,000.

North Thomas Road Water Line Project:
This project received $100,000 of American Recovery and Reinvestment funding. The total cost of the construction was approximately $300,000.

Tallmadge Police Department HVAC System Replacement:
The City received $90,000 of American Reinvestment and Recovery funds towards this project. The total cost of the project was $180.000

Tallmadge Police Shooting Range Project:
The City of Tallmadge received $500,000 from the State of Ohio Capital Project Funding Program for this project.  The total cost of the purchase and clean up was approximately $400,000. The balance of the funding will be used for construction of the new shooting range.  This project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2012.

The City of Tallmadge has recently applied for and has been awarded a series of street construction and paving grants through the Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study Program for the State Fiscal year 2013.  The City will receive a grant for the following three projects:

  • Northwest Avenue from Stadium Drive to the Akron Corporate boundary.  The total project cost is estimated at $321,300 with a City share of $64,300.

  • Newton Street from the Akron Corporate boundary to Southeast Avenue.  The total project cost is estimated at $225,117 with a City share of $45,023.

  • South Thomas Road from West Avenue to the Akron Corporate boundary.  The total cost of the project is $267,000 with a City share of $53,400

These projects will be completed in the fall of 2012 or the spring of 2013.
